I am an Artist, and The Artist’s Way helped me remember that. As part of my artistic recovery, I’m making more time for writing and drawing. One way of doing that is through art prompts.

I’ve re-discovered these Art Club prompts by Lorna Scobie that I’ve had for a while:

Art Club: 52 Art Cards to Spark Creativity. By Lorna Scobie.

Recently, I pulled prompts 6 and 26 from the deck:

Art Club prompts 6 (draw apple shapes and color each of them in a different way) and 26 (draw a page of stars in any style you like).

They were fun, even though apples and stars are harder to draw than I originally imagined :)

Prompt 6: Draw apple shapes

For materials, I used dry media paper, colored pencil and chalk pastels. I think my favorite might be the greenish-yellow with hints of red apple that’s 2 columns over, 3 rows down. Second place goes to the yellow-red apple that’s 3 columns over, 2 rows down.

Four rows and columns of red, green and yellow apples drawn in colored pencil and chalk pastels.

Prompt 26: Draw a page of stars

For this prompt, I drew digitally using my iPad, Apple Pencil, and Procreate.

Digitally drawn yellow and blue stars on a blue background.

Here’s the time-lapse replay:

Which prompt should I try next?

Give me a number from 1 through 52, or type “random” in the comments, and I’ll use that prompt in a future I’m an Artist post!
